Talking Peppers

Nus Nous photographs seem to represent human bodies or parts of them, in reality it is the observer who wants to see them. When we observe anything, even a situation, we observe it emotionally and for this reason, we often let ourselves be deceived. In the Nus Nous images, it is evident how the element of ambivalence turns into a subtle elaboration of the mind that takes us away from reality to lead us into an imaginary labyrinth made up of suggestions.

Apex

The fine art and landscape photography series “Apex” reflects on the order and chaos within the natural organic forms and scapes, contrasting to the uniformity of social structures and routine lifestyles, and aims to displaying them through a setting that offers a sense of serenity and tranquility. The photographer believes that the facets of the mountain forms the perfect juxtaposition between ordered complexity and simplicity, establishing a different perspective on natural beauty.

Epic Fail

Inspired by the political events that shook 2016, this series observes the dissonance between our perception and reality in the age of social media and catered news feeds. The aim was to question how our materiality can be warped by our opinions and judgements, using the existential currents of Jean Paul Sartre’s "Nausea".

Penumbra

The designer took photos at a time when leaving the house and meeting people was a challenge, i.e. during the pandemic. Staying at home for a long time triggered the author's creativity. Therefore everyday objects found in the house, such as bowls of water, reflective materials, windows in the building were used to model the light. Her works were taken in color first, then changed to black and white. Everything was done digitally. Only one photo she took with artificial light from a lamp and it is a portrait of a boy. Silhouettes are often shown hidden.

I am Nesia

This series of images is an interpretation of the effects that the recent lockdown had on mankind. It is a reminder of the fear felt on a global scale. Most important, it is there to remind that the human race can prevail and adapt in order to survive and ultimately overcome the damage done by the pandemic. So even though the images might come across as dark, they are in fact a celebration of the human spirit.

Metamorphosis

The site is at the Keihin Industrial region in the outskirt of Tokyo. Smoke billowing consistently from chimneys of heavy industrial factories may depict a negative image such as pollution and materialism. However, the photographs have focused on the different aspects of the factories portraying on its functional beauty. During the day, pipes and structures create geometric patterns with lines and textures and scale on weathered facilities creates an air of dignity. At night, the facilities change to a mysterious cosmic fortress that of sci-fi films in the 80's.
